On 30 June 2011 staff from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) will strike in protest at the cuts to public bodies implemented by the Coalition government. The strike will last for one day, from the evening of Wednesday 29 June until midnight on Thursday 30 June. The UKBA have advised that their priority during the strike will be maintaining border security and managing migration.
The UKBA are advising that people travelling into the UK may experience delays at border controls. They have not advised how the strike will affect individual ports, airports and international rail terminals.
The UKBA are requesting that passengers arriving in the UK on 30 June:
- having all travel documents ready at the border, including passports, taken out of any document holders or wallets
- using e-Passport gates where possible
The UKBA hope to keep public enquiry offices running on the day of the strike. Any services based overseas will be unaffected.
