Tier 4 rules changed to prevent downgrading of studies after confirmed CAS

The Tier 4 visa rules will be updated on 6 April 2013 to prevent students with confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) from downgrading the level of their course.

Under the new rule, which comes into effect on 6 April 2013, once you have been given your CAS the level of your studies is then fixed. Under the new rule, you are not allowed to switch to a course of a lower level than stated in your CAS. The update to the rules represents part of the ongoing tightening of the rules around student visas.
