Changes to Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) extensions for Business Persons and Innovators

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) have announced further changes to the points based system due to be implemented on 6 April. These changes affect extensions to gather supporting documents for Entrepreneurs, Business Persons and Innovators.

With effect from 6 April the UKBA will no longer be allowing extensions for anyone on a Business Persons or Innovators visa who is switching to the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) route to gather supporting documents. This provision is being removed because it has not been used by applicants to date.

This means that if you apply on or after 6 April 2012 then you must provide all supporting documentation with your application, including evidence that you were registered as a director or were self-employed in the 3 months before applying.

For more information on the current requirements, please see the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) policy guidance (PDF, 698KB).
