Online Tier 2 and 5 applications from February 2012
Tier 2 and 5 applicants applying onshore will be able to apply online from mid-February 2012.The online system will allow migrants applying under Tier 2 and 5 of the points based system, and their dependents, to make applications online. The new system can only be used to make onshore applications for permission to stay (further leave to remain) in the UK.
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) have laid changes to the Immigration Rules before Parliament today to allow for these online applications to launch on 14 February 2012.
If you want to use the online service then you need to complete the online application form and make your payment online. If you want to use the premium service then you must book an appointment at a public enquiry office online.
Requirements for online applications
There are certain requirements for online applications that will have to be met. For non-premium applications you must:
- submit any required supporting documents specified as mandatory within 15 working days; and
- book and attend an appointment at a public enquiry office to provide biometric information. You must attend this appointment by the date we request you to.
- attend an appointment at a public enquiry office to submit any required supporting documents specified as mandatory, and enrol your biometric information when requested, within 45 working days.
These requirements are mandatory and not meeting them will result in your application being refused.
Your date of application will be the date on which you submit your online application.
The application fee which you pay will be taken from the date when you submit your application online. If the fee changes between when you make your application and you receive your decision you do not have to pay a new fee, or make up the the difference.
