Online payments for visa applications in India from 1 May 2013

People applying for visas to travel to the UK from India will be able to use a new online system to pay their visa fees with effect from 1 May 2013.

Applicants from India can already apply for their visa online but from 1 May there will also be the option to pay online using valid Visa or Mastercards. Other cards will not be accepted. Whilst applicants will still have to attend an appointment at an application centre to submit documents and biometric information they no longer have to bring payment with them to the centre.

There is no obligation to use the new payment system so applicants can still pay in cash or by demand draft at the application centre, or at selected branches of Standard Chartered bank.
