New immigration fees - April 2011
The application fees for foreign nationals applying to visit, work, study or settle in the UK have changed, with effect from 6 April 2011.The changes to the fees were announced by Immigration Minister Damian Green in February and are brought into effect following approval by Parliament. You can find the new fees on the Fees for our services page of the UKBA website.
Most of the fees for processing applications have gone up again. This means that migration is getting steadily more expensive for applicants. The UKBA have increased the fees to help make up the 20% budget cut it recently received.
In a separate document on the UKBA website - UK Border Agency fees from 06 April 2011 (PDF, 229KB) - you can see how much each individual category has gone up by. The document also shows categories that charges are being introduced for.
