Immigration fees rise on 1st October 2010
Following an announcement from the Home Office in February 2010, the fees for applications under the immigration system rose on the 1st October 2010.For the majority of application routes the increase was capped at 2.5%, but some newly chargeable services were also announced. Some of the more significant changes are as follows:
- Tier 1 (Post-study work) visas rose significantly for applications from both inside and outside the UK
- Tier 4 (Student visa) applications rose from £145 to £220 (though still below the estimated cost of processing the application with is approximately £242)
- Long term visit visas (up to 10 years) rose from £500 to £610
- Naturalisation application costs rose across the board with a single application having gone up from £640 to £735
- Applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) for dependent relatives has risen over doubled to £1,680 for postal applications and for public enquiry office applications has risen to £1,930
As these changes were announced before the general election these changes do not take account of the recent spending review announced by the Treasury. More changes should be expected.
