Changes made to list of approved English language tests
The list of approved English language test providers for applications made through the points based system has been updated by the UKBA.The updated list of test providers applies from 4 October 2011 to applications made under Tier 1, 2 and 4 of the points based system as well as for spouse and partner applications.
If you have to demonstrate your English language ability in your application by taking a language test then you have to take one of the tests featured on this list. Your application may be refused if you submit an English language test not included on this list.
Changes made to the list include:
- three Cambridge ESOL tests now offer certification at three levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) instead of just two. These tests are
- Cambridge English: Key
- Cambridge English: Preliminary
- Cambridge English: Business Preliminary
- a new updated website address for the Educational Testing Service (ETS)
- new contact details for Pearson as well as a statement that they don’t issue paper certificates
- a statement that separate certificate and notification of candidate results sheet are required for speaking part of the City and Guilds English language test
